Main Assembly Hall

The main assembly hall, also called Tsogchen, is the principal structure in the Drepung Monastery which is one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet. It is the biggest Tibetan Monastery built in 1416 by Jamyang choge.

Tibet Travel Permits

If someone wants to visit Tibet, it’s important to know how to get the permits to enter Tibet. It is still not possible to enter Tibet as backpackers​. Travelers even if just one person needs to travel with a tour guide, driver and vehicle. Travelers must follow an organized trip and plan it ahead of time. Except for the Chinese Visa and passport, the first permit that all foreign travelers need to get is the Tibet Travel Permit which can only be applied by local Tibet Travel Agency. The next permit depending on your travel areas you plan to is an Alien Travel Permit which is issued by the Public Security Bureau. If you plan to travel to Mt. Kailash, overland to Kashgar, Nyingtri or Chamdo prefectures, you need to apply for Military Permit. All the permits to Tibet will be well handled by the travel agency you booked.
